I liked the screen of the Samsung more, and the ease of controlling various options (volume, brightness, etc) with one key, whereas with this one if it has such quick functions they are well hidden. A bar pops up on the left, which is annoying and not easy to get rid of.
Low power, great CHIPSET design and just out run the competition. If you're looking to surf the net, print and edit a document here and there, these systems will do you great and last a few years. Fires up quickly and does all the Office documents and web surfing I need it to. Based on other reviews I immediately upgraded the RAM to 2GB.
Three days in and this machine is rocking. It shipped quickly and right out of the box it fired right up.
It saved me from having to watch Vanessa Hudgens in Beastly. Just an aside, I have a bone to pick with Amazon constantly changing prices. It was a fraction of the price of the iPad and a fraction of the weight of my standard laptop. Its Wi-Fi detection found open networks all over Tokyo, Kyoto, and Nagasaki. The speaker is small, but sounds great to me. The battery has been holding up superbly. I watched CNET videos, I really don't see a problem with the device, and it works fine as a basic computer. You can do some basic design work, not a lot.
Also be aware that netbooks don't come with a CD-ROM. They require an external CD ROM which can be purchased for $15 and up depending on what u want. Plenty of other reviews here have said so, so I'll refrain from redundancy. The purpose of my review is to alert those of you planning to immediately upgrade the RAM from 1GB to 2GB. I'd say give this netbook a try - it is a great entry level machine that takes well to upgrades. After a month of using this sweet little machine, I have to say Toshiba did a great job at engineering a netbook that's as completely functional as my desktop.
This is where the energy saving Atom processor shows how energy saving it really is! The laptop's keyboard is full size and the rear "rubber feet" are raised, which makes typing very comfortable.
With the Windows 7 system it was noticeably slower. I am using my netbook as my school computer while I am going to college. This notebook (mini laptop) is adorable. Not to diminish it in a man's eyes, but it's classy looking, slim and fits in your hand easily. There is a wonderful free little program available on the Internet called "Batch Image Resizer" and any full sized pictures I wanted to email, I just ran though that and all was fine. The full sized originals remained on the notebook with back up to a flash drive.
